Hello! 
     Welcome to the Reading Resource page.  I have been a Reading Specialist for many years and have enjoyed working with students in Kindergarten-Fifth Grade.
     At Kilby Elementary, I work with especially the third through fifth graders.  We will be encouraging students to continue to READ, READ, READ for thirty minutes each night, as part of their homework.  Studies have proven that the more time a student spends reading or time on task, the better he/she will read!
     It is also very beneficial to read aloud to your child to each day.  This builds vocabulary, teaches how stories sound, and the child is listening and thinking about what will happen next in the story or making the story make sense.  While you are spending time together, the child is developing an understanding of stories that will build reading comprehension and vocabulary.
